Business Cards for UniDoodle @ BETT
Project Type
Print Material
Date
March 2023
Location
London
The UniDoodle team got a last-minute slot at BETT 2023, an EdTech conference in London, making travel arrangements just one week before the event.
We didn't have time to enlist the help of a graphic designer, so I pulled together our existing assets and adapted them for print.
For our business cards, I made the grave error of designing them in Figma, meaning I wasn't able to export them in CMYK format for print. I had to redesign in Adobe InDesign, which had a massive learning curve, and adjust colours to suit CMYK.
The design of the business cards references familiar shapes and colours from within the UniDoodle app - keeping the logo consistent, and the wave pattern that features in the apps' landing screens. Colours were bumped up to create a more memorable impression, and a ghost pattern of hand-drawn mathematical formulae was used to hint towards the platform's functionality.
We were occupying a stand in the BETT Futures area within the exhibition hall, alongside other EdTech startups, so rigid professionalism in our print material styling was neither expected nor necessary. I fought hard to include our coffee orders on our business cards - my CEO didn't feel cool enough to keep it, but I managed to persuade her to try it out. It ended up being a talking point as visitors read through our information, which I consider to be a success.
